If you don't need an OS you can afford a GTX 970 or R9 390.

No need for a Z97 on a locked processor. The EVGA NEX PSU is not a good one.

This or an R9 390 would be the way I would go if you don't need an OS.

Pretty much a repeated build, but if you go to JET.COM and enter the promo code 20NOW it will knock the price of the CPU and GPU to the following costs. Note that it is a $20% off coupon with a maximum of $50, plus there are other cost saving benefits on the site (shipping distance and waving free return/paying restocking fee if you return for reason other than not working). If you bought the GTX 970 by itself, it would be $243. Also, a Zotac GTX 960 4GB can be had instead for $160 outright or $169 if you combine with the i5 at $150. This promo expires on 12/26 and is no longer advertised on the site. It got me an R9 390 for $190 about a month or so ago, and another a few weeks later for $219. The code can only be used once per person(not address), so if you have a spouse or friend willing to help you can get other parts for your build with 20% off. Good luck, Merry Christmas back!

That's odd, I just checked it and still working for me. It actually says it expires on 1/1/2016 now. Is it saying the code is invalid? I do remember the code not working with some vendors on the i5, you may want to see if there is more than one buying option for it. I know it doesn't work with OS's. I'll see if I can come up with a solution. If you entered the 15now code before the 20now code, you may need to start all over again, and clear your cache/cookies first.

It seems that the 15now brings it to the same price if you get both i5 and gpu, since it's a $50 maximum discount anyways. I just confirmed with i5 4590/gtx970.
Edit: I show $422 with 4590/gtx970 ($419 with 4460) whether 20now or 15now is applied. I also opted to waive free returns to get to that price.
