Build in progress. I need to know about the connections for my graphics card

I have the sapphire r9 390 nitro and it requires 2 8pin connections and my PSU comes with these connections that have it going from the PSU to this weird thing where one is straight and then it has another 8 pin thing hanging off of it. Do I need 2 different cables of those or just 1? I have an EVGA 850W GS 80+ gold power supply.

One cable two connectors is sufficient.

You need both of those. They have one 6 pin and one 8 pin. You need 2 8 pins.

The cable I have has two 6 pin with the extra 2 pin things on both ends.. So it's like 2 8-pins on 1 cable. Everything works and the display comes up but the fans aren't spinning on the graphics card. Though when I boot up the computer the middle fan spins for like 15 seconds then turns off. I think the sapphire r9 390 has intelligent fans thing where a certain temperature has to be reached before they turn on.
