Asus gtx 970 black screen issue

Please someone help me this is beyond ridiculous, I've tried everything from which dvi port I use to clean uninstall and fresh driver install but nothing works and the card is barely a week old, I'm really stuck and extremely frustrated
I7 4790k
Asus gtx 970 strix
16gb hyper x ram
Z97 gaming 5 motherboard
Evga supernova 750 bronze
2tb hdd
250gb ssd
Any help is super appreciated cause I have no idea what's happening

Hi Haighter,

A few questions first for you to try to narrow down the causes of your black screen problems.

1. Prior to the Asus GTX 970 graphics card did you have any other graphics card in the Pci-e slot of the motherboard.
And if you did.
Did you remove the graphics driver for that graphics card before you removed so you could fit the GTX 970 card ?

2.When exactly does the black screen happen that you are talking about, when windows is loading and is supposed to go to the desktop, or does it happen in windows when you attempt to play a game ?

I've duplicated this error. More than one monitor plugged into the Vid. Card, And the monitors do not match resolutions. Then playing a graphics intensive game. The 970 doesn't like that.

the solution was govin to me by a person in this post and all i did was turn down the OC and memory by 100 and i havent had a single issue since, considering this is higher than most gtx970s will even go id say thats just fine, looks like card cant even handle itself
