I currently have a verizon fios router that receives its internet connection through a coax cable. The router then sends the internet over wifi. That is on the bottom floor and I want to fix that. I have another COAX plug on the top floor that is connected to my FIOS HD TV box. I am wondering, can I use a splitter on the top floor and have one coax cable for the tv box and one to a modem. The modem will then be used to connect wired internet to computers. Will the modem still assign proper IP's?
