Hero viii PCie is at x8 instead of x16 HELP

Ive built a new computer and when I checked some things ive found my card is at x8 instead of x16. The graphics card is in the correct location and I cant seen to figure this out.

Removed 1- 980ti

Also in bios under peg port config it shows

pciex16/x8_1 - x8 (greyed out cant change)

It`s one of the things you have to watch and take note of.
When you buy a motherboard, based on the North and South bridge chip sets used.

For most by running two cards in sli mode each Pci-e based card slot will lower it`s self to X8 Pci-e lane speeds.

Unless the board you buy states that it can run at x16 Pci-e speed per Pci-e card slot on the motherboard.

There is nothing wrong. It is down to the limitations of the chip set used on the motherboard you have bought.

You have a single x16 slot that runs at that speed when alone


you have another slot (grey) that will make both run 8x 8x ( this is what you want )


and a third slot that will make the first slot run at 8x, this third slot will run at 4x
