Hi all!

I have an ASUS Formula VII mobo and two of the six back USB 3.0 ports do not work (the two 2.0 do work). I tried updating the USB drivers but to no avail. Under device manager everything under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" looks good. But, I have another tree for "Other Devices" which has "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller" and "unknown device" both of which have the yellow exclamation point. Any ideas?

Specs in sig.

Sometimes extra USB ports are conditional, i.e., they only work if you are NOT using some other combination of options, such as an .M2 slot, or, perhaps even above a certain number of SATA ports....

But, certainly, you can swap cables leading to your ports on your MB to conclusively prove the cables vs. the header connector on MB are good ....

Thanks for your response. Your info got me thinking some more so while I dug around my board's spec page on the ASUS website I found something about ASmedia USB controller. Turns out that driver wasn't installed, so I installed it and now they work. Thanks!
