Nvidia seems ahead but it doesn't mean they can rest easy. Right now nvidia dominate discrete market share but AMD domination in console hardware already starts showing it's benefit. Those async compute for example it is something AMD has been pushing wince they came up with GCN. Since their hardware were use in console they able to influence dev to use feature that is advantageous to them. Nvidia well aware the threat AMD can bring in hence they increase their devrel effort and we finally see something like Gameworks. Gameworks bring a lot of controversy but still we see dev are still using them. And the numbers are growing despite the negativity we heard about it. Amd for their part try to neutralize nvidia advantage bit by bit like...

Splendid
Given how far the Nv's current 900 series cards are ahead of AMD, id expect:

-A delay on the launch.
-An increased comparable price.

No point cannibalising your current cards by rushing the release or selling at a low price when you aren't facing stiff competition.

Amd for their part try to neutralize nvidia advantage bit by bit like fresync initiave and gpu open. So IMO nvidia can simply rest easy just like that. It is not impossible for AMD to gain back their marketshare if nvidia are not careful. The only problem of AMD are their financials. And i've seen nvidia has been expoiting this fact to give more pressure on AMD. Just look at what kind of damage nvidia has done to AMD when they put 970 at 330. Then they jump the gun once again before AMD releasing Fury. Fury priced at 650 is a very clear indication that AMD has no intention to undercut 980ti in terms of pricing. Instead of putting the price that AMD think is worth it for Fury nvidia force them to price Fury X at a level where nvidia want it to be.

So because of this few factor i believe nvidia will not going to delay Pascal long into 2016 time frame. Unless there is issues with TSMC 16nm finfet that preventing them to launch their card in the first half of 2016. And that's not counting intel. Right now nvidia have a very good reason to launch their big gun ASAP (GP100) because of intel.
