So i am running a server with my athon 5150 (25w), and i notice its not powerful at times.
I am looking to upgrate it, i use the server for:

Remote desktop (team viewer, used in home net work or away, as work station)
Media center (40" FHD tv via hdmi)
Torrent files
Plex media server (4 clients, 720-1080p encode)
Internet browsing
winrar
Occasional video editing
Tv Streaming
Skype
File server
Stable bit drive pool
Some windows store games

It will run windows 10 64bits, and many background programs like, facebook, emails, firefox, etc

It will run 24/7.

Or should i wait for zen? But i dont plan on waiting more than couple months, and i cant find many info about them

Yeah if you're trying to run it stock, the AMD side of things tend to run pretty hot compared to Intel. If budget affords, I'd stick with the i7 since it gives you quad core and multi threading. The i5 isnt bad, but the lack of multi threading is going to hurt performance with the video editing.
I wouldn't really call it over kill. Since its the "t" model you're already taking a speed hit but I'm assuming you're using it in a media center type enclosure so are going for low fan noise? Between the video editing and the Plex serving you'll enjoy the multi threading of the i7 line up.

i will use the stock cooler, and mini itx MB, the computer will be in the closet away from the view.

I am looking for alternatives but i cant find any on the AMD side that as low TDP, i also consider the i3 and i5

I guess its better the i7 then, i dont do much video editing, but plex does a lot of video transcoding, i do do stream a lot (team viewer, and while plex is also running).

I dont feel i can wait one more year for ZEN based on speculation only
