Best HDD for an NAS?

I live in Sri Lanka, where my options for a 2TB HDD for a NAS are very limited. Right now, they consist of a WD Green, Purple or Blue.

I can get the 3TB WD Red (I know this one is best), but it costs almost twice that of a WD Blue or Green. The Purple is only ~$20 more expensive. My question is, which is best aside from the Red for an NAS?

WD Blue is better, as the WD Green is designed to save energy but runs a bit slower. Your cache size allows your drive to have more data ready for processing, reducing the time it takes to complete an operation.

Well all drives will work fine in a NAS but the only difference is usually speed and reliability, the WD Red is rated to run longer and at reduced chance of failure. You could very well go with a WD Blue for cost as long as you get a good cache size 64MB+, just remember that your chance of a drive failure is greater so make regular backups. Also have you looked into seeing if you can get a good Seagate enterprise drive(great for nas or raid)?

All enterprise drives cost more here, unfortunately. This NAS won't be backed up; it's main point is to function as a central backup location for all devices on my network. No files will be stored on it, only backups. As such, I think I don't need RAID, since it is highly unlikely both the NAS HDD and the device fail at the same time, correct?

In your opinion, is the WD Green or the WD Blue better? What do you mean by cache size?
