HI all,
I am planning to buy a CPU for playing games like Assassin's Creed Unity and Syndicate on ultra at 768p resolution. Is AMD A4 860K stock sufficient or i should go with FX-6300 or intel i3 maybe. What i require is at least 30 fps on Assassin's Creed Unity at Ultra on mentioned resolution. Thanks in advance!

Solution
Yes it is mate IMO.its a very good CPU for the money (1/2 the price of an i3 generally)

Go for any 68 series board as they all support the 860k out of the box.
This was from early days. The drivers have been improved a bit since.

i7-4790k, gtx970, 8 Gb Ram

The settings I use are

Env Quality: Ultra

Shadow: High

Anti-Aliasing: 2xMSAA+FXAA

AO: HBAO+

Texture: High (highest setting)

VSync: ON

Resolution:1920x1080

In London, White Chapel area, I consistently get fps around 50-55. The fps never falls below 42.

What is your GPU?
What about all the other settings?
The CPUs you mentioned will be unlikely to get a minimum of 30FPS at the above settings.

They'll all push in excess of 30fps no problems.
Ultra settings are going to be more dependant on the GPU in all honesty.

At 768p a gtx 950/r9 270/370 should do the job fine.

Buy according to your budget mate , but be sure to get one of those gpu's & 8gb ram minimum into the build.

Well me personally on a tight budget
I would take the 860k with a r9 370 or gtx 950.
Pricewise that should come out about the same as an i3 or 6300 with a 750ti - you'll be better future proofed for future titles & will more than likely be pushing close to 60fps with a 950/370 at that res.
IMO 30fps for PC gaming doesn't cut it really compared to console , you want to be in the mid 40s for a decent experience.

OOPS, I read the Ultra HD and missed the 768p part, so those CPUs will do that.

The best decision depends on your possible future.

There is no UP from Athlon X4 869K, but it allow a significantly better GPU.
The i3 and GTX750ti both have an upgrade path. Something like an i3 4170 will own older games that require only one or two threads.

Yes it will do fine with a decent gpu, also depending on sales you can typically find the fx6300 for $10-$20 more if you shop around vs the 860K and it will perform better and overclocks easily past 4.2ghz

So i say shop around if you can find the fx-6300 close to the price of the 860k go that route if not the 860K is a good chip for your needs

And is X4 860K, stock, enough for playing mentioned game on ultra at 768 p, getting 35 fps at least ? :)
