Hello,

I am an absolute novice in the world of technology (building), but I recently decided to take a swing at building my own PC. The primary functions of this PC will be gaming, graphics, and programming. I am hoping to have roughly 1080p and 50-60 frames per second. I chosen all but two components that I think I will need, and would ask for your help reviewing them for cost, efficiency, and most important, compatibility.

Processor:
Intel Core i7-6700K CPU
$300.00
Motherboard:
ASRock Z97 Extreme6
$200.00
Memory:
G. Skill Ripjaws 4 16GB DDR4
$120.00
Internal Hard Drive:
Wester Digital Black 2TB
$120.00
Solid State Drive:
SanDisk Extreme PRO (256 GB)
$110.00
Case:
Rosewill B2-SPIRIT ATX Full Tower
$170.00
Graphic Card:
XFX Double Dissipation R9 380 990MHZ
$190.00
Cooling Unit:
Help
Power Supply:
Help
Operating System:
Windows 10
$110.00
Monitor:
AOC G2460PQU
$250.00

As far as the Power Supply and Cooling Units go, I would appreciate any recommendations as I am utterly confounded as what to use. I would appreciate as much input as possible, even if it is simply to support another comment.

Many Thanks,
A Novice

Your MoBo / CPU don't match... the 380 won't make your fps target and there's some other issues ....gimme a few moments to come up with somethin.

This one is based upon your selection of Z97 MoBo ... it will provide a substantial performance boost over what you had and is much cheaper.

The MoBo is one of the fastest Z97 MoBos in gaming and has one of the lowest number of negative reviews from board owners on newegg

The CPU will work in a Z97 MoBo.

Your MoBo didn't do DDR4, this is very fast DDR3.

The SSD is step up but the SSD doesn't do squat for the games on the HD.... the SSHD will provide a 50% increase in gaming over the WD Black per THG's testing.

The 970 is about 50% faster than the 380 @ 1080p

The cooler is in the top 5 and matches the case in color

PSU is capable of adding a 2nd card in SLI

Monitor is **the** 144 Hz monitor

I left the OS out as i just can't bring myself to recommend Win 10 :)

Friend, you are a lifesaver. Out of these two setups, which would recommend as the better? Also, what would you recommend in place of Windows 10? I'll be honest with you, I'm really not a fan of that computer case. Is there any chance you could recommend a liquid cooling unit for the case I used? Finally, will I need a sound card or a WiFi card or any other components?
