I have an SSD for my OS and a few other things I might want to add to it but then I also have a 1TB western digital HDD that I want to use for everything else like photos and large games.. How do I go about making it so that I can do that?

when installing a program change the install directory to the HDD, I recommend making a Program Files and Program Files x86 folder on there to make it easier, then its just a matter of changing the drive letter from C: to what ever letter your HDD is marked as

Go to computer management and initialize the 1tb hard drive. Then format it. It should show up after that. It it doesn't, restart the computer.

I have never used My Documents nor allowed the OS to install things in ProgramFiles....Since 1993, we have never had anything else on C:\ but the OS.

1. Make a small D:\Partition on the HD (say 64 GB) so that page and temp files are on the outer edge of the drive where performance is fastest. Move the page files and temp files to a partition on D:\

Windows 7

-Control Panel / System / Advanced System Settings / Advanced tab / Perfomance SETTINGS / Advanced / Change...... Set C to 0; set D to Min and Max of 16396 MB

-Control Panel / System / Advanced System Settings / Advanced tab / ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES / Top Window
Select TEMP / EDIT / Change to D:\Temp
Select TMP / EDIT / Change to D:\Temp

The rest you can create partitions any way ya want. Some people put everything in "one drawer", others want to have the equivalent of a "socks drawer", "pants drawer, "shirts drawer" if ya get my meaning.

When you install programs, select custom install and change from C:\Program Files\ Adobe to say E:\Adobe

Game files, data files, email files are all the same, just tell the system where you want to install them when ya hit "save as"

Do I have to do the 64gb partition? I can only see the temp file on my SSD but not the page files thing. Can I just keep the temp on my SSD? And for some reason I cannot name anything D the letters go ABEFG.. No C or D
Could I do like a 500GB partition for gaming so that it's on the outer edges and other things like videos and stuff are on the inside?

C is your boot drive so that's taken
My guess is that you have an optical drive (or a removable) which is now named D:\

I always change the optical to Z:\ .... That frees up D:\

It is generally not recommended to install page and temp files to the SSD as these files are written / rewritten extensively and most peeps prefer to keep the wear and tear off the SSD.

Yes, you should choose and select partitions in accordance with what you want to go fast and what you don't care about.

For example if you have backups partition, this would go last.

I couldn't find the page files and it only lets me copy the temp file to the HDD not actually move it. Do I just copy and delete it? I also have some games installed on the first partition already.
