Poor 1920x1080 monitor quality

Hi all, Bought an ASUS VE228HR monitor today, hoping to utilize the 1920x1080p, and tried to get it working, but found the picture quality very poor. :??:

I tried the existing DVI connector from graphics card, but after talking to ASUS, they said to use HDMI. My graphics card (GTX 660Ti) only supports DVI & VGA. I tried connecting HDMI cable to motherboard, but didn't recognize it.

Do I need another graphics card that supports a HDMI?

both DVI and VGA support fhd. Are you sure you have set your desktop settings to 1920x1080?

Dvi should work fine with a 1080p 60hz pannel. Maybe your cable is damaged, have you tried using another one?

I have used both old and new DVI cables. The view is reasonable, but for 1920x1080 it's definitely lacking. Even my young son notices the difference. The display setting show 1920x1080 using DVI connector.
