Hello, so I got the i7 4790k CPU. I mounted it on my current motherboard which is Gigabyte GA-H81M-D3H and it's running under the stock cooler.

My 1st question is: Will my motherboard be fine handling this CPU or do I have to consider an upgrade of the motherboard aswell and if yes, what motherboard brand/model should I get that would work best and it's a bit budget too?

and, my 2nd question is about cooling solution for this i7. I was considering to get ARCTIC LIQUID FREEZER 240, 4X120mm, 4-pin because it has a good price on a local store in my city but I'm really scared of leaks and stuff like that, because I've seen some videos about these types of coolers that put me on edge a bit... (also would this fit fine in my case? Zalman Z3). If this particular liquit cooler isnt good what air cooler should I get that would work best with my cpu ? (budget).

My full system specs (if it matters):
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-H81M-D3H
CPU: i7 4790k (currently running with stock cooler at 4.0ghz)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce 4GB 256bit
RAM: 12GB Corsair 1600mhz
PSU: 700W ZALMAN ZM700-GLX
Case: Zalman Z3 + 4 Case Cooler Fans.
HDD: 1TB Seagate
SSD: 2x Intel 180GB

- Thanks in advance for your infos!

You should be fine. You're running the i7 at stock speeds, if you were overclocking you might need a bit more robust power delivery on the motherboard but you should be just fine.

As for cooling, the stock cooler is good for stock speeds. Again, you're not overclocking so why spend the cash on an elaborate cooler? If you wanted to step up the cooling capability, there are plenty of moderately priced air coolers which of course won't leak.

Thanks, I do however want to OC in the future, I want to be able to enjoy the full power of my CPU and if the mobo is an issue I need to know.

As it stands then, you'll run into a problem. You're buying a H81 based board which doesn't support overclocking. To utilize the unlocked multiplier in your CPU, you need to get a Z97 based board. That will have the proper bios options for overclocking.

Hi and thanks for your reply, I thought so, its not that i bought the board now, I had it and I just upgraded my CPU from an i5 4460. I guess I'll have to buy a new MB :D
