Is there a large difference? I was watching one of Jayztwocents videos and his 980 classified was competing within 8-10fps difference of a 980 ti. Just curious as IM buying a new gpu tomorrow, and the 980 classified new is $500, where as the 980 ti classified is $650.

The biggest difference is the extra 2 GB of VRAM that comes with the Ti. It more or less future proofs you. Most games don't use all 4GB that the 980 has right now, but it wouldn't surprise if they use more for high settings in the near future. I'm considering parting with my 980 for either a 980 Ti or a Titan.

That's what I figured, I'm just trying to keep the wife happy but Newegg dropped the 980 ti classified to $659.99, and they also have a Gigabyte Windforce edition for $599.99 ( non g1 ).. So it's like ughhhh... I might as well get a 980 ti! LOL but with taxes at my local microcenter I'm looking at $690 for any decent 980 ti.. They have open box gpu's for like $590 but dunno bout open box!

I would go with the Ti. I don't like buying used computer parts so I avoid open box sales.

Very true, I always look at the pricetag like uhhhhh such a good price! My MSI X99S SLI Plus mobo was open box, but it was fixed and sent back by MSI so they called it open serves me perfect! but I agree with ya.
