I just put together a new build for my son for Christmas. This is my second build. So I'm a über novice. No issues with first build.
Components:
ASRock Z97 Extreme6
EVGA GeForce GTX 980
INTEL CORE i5 processor
CoolMaster Hyper 212
EVGA Supernova 850 G2
Issue: NO DISPLAY
TROUBLESHOT so far:
All fans are working, mobo is apparently live as evidenced by power and reset buttons are lit and the code on the mobo is A2.
I checked for bent pins on CPU and MOBO power, no issues. I removed one of the RAMM and tried HDMI and DVI conections but still no display.
One caveat, when I applied the thermal glue on the proccessor I over did it. Is it possible I damaged the proccessor? Please help!!!

Did you plug the display cord into the ports connected to the motherboard or the GPU?

Interesting update. Went to micro center today and bought a power supply tester. Mobo output from PSU apparently ok. When I check the cable for the CPU, nothing. I'm going to see if I have another 8 pin CPU cable. Do you think that is worth a try? Also, I noted when I was wiring the front panel I/O there was no cable offered for a ground to the mobo. I called Corsair and they stayed that as long as there is good contact of the mobo to the case on the stand offs I should be ok. Your thoughts!

Honestly, I am not an expert at PSUs and cables. I can hook them up, but as to diagnosing a cable or PSU problem, you probably aren't any better off than me.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I've determined the issue is with the mobo. After my initial contact with you today (28 Dec) I realized I hadn't attached the cable properly to the tester. The PSU is totally fine. The issue is apparently with the mobo. I am sending it back to Amazon. Thanks again
