Hi guys,

First time posting here. I've read through a lot of similar topics on here but didn't see my exact specs so I am posting in the hopes of finding out if I need to readjust my Hyper 212 EVO or my expectations?...It seems that I am running hotter than I should be.

My specs:
Case - Vengeance C70 Mid-tower case
Mobo - MSI Z97 Gaming 5
CPU - Intel Core i7 4790k
GPU - GTX 980 Ti
GPU - Also using Intel HD Graphics 4600 (for a third monitor)
RAM - 32 GB of 8 x 4 Corsair Vengeance DDR3

Fans - 2 Intake (front), 1 exhaust (back), PSU points down (850 W), Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

My temps:
Average Idle temp 44 c degrees
Average load temp (playing Witcher 3) 56 - 60 c degrees
Max 100% stress test 70 c

My previous Stock CPU heatsink was running (and why I upgraded to the Hyper 212 EVO)
Average Idle temp 50 c degrees
Average load temp (playing Witcher 3) 75 - 80 c degrees
Max 100% stress test 86 c

Exacerbating conditions that may be contributing to heat:
I'm in a small room (6 feet wide 8 feet long, its my computer room) with average ambient temp at 24 c degrees

I have 3 monitors, one directly utilizing on-board graphics, I have two monitors on the 980 Ti one of which being a 22 inch HD cintiq (I utilize a lot of photoshop, hence the 32 GB of RAM) However, I typically don't have all my monitors on and when i am gaming I keep the Cintiq off.

So before I go ahead and reseat the Hyper 212 EVO and reapply thermal paste, I thought I'd ask you wonderful smart people if I am just expecting too much or everything is fine given the variables?

If there is something wrong, should I add a top fan for exhaust? Add a second fan to the Hyper 212 EVO?

Thanks guys, sorry for the long post.

Check the case for dust. And also, your ambient temperature's got something to do with it. The room's hot, the computer doesn't get cool air through. Hyper 212 EVO is a good cooler, it's just that you're putting it through hot air which would not cool the CPU much better than it already is.

Hey thanks for the quick response, the case is about 3 weeks old so it hasn't had time to accumulate any dust so that's not the issue, however I do think it may be mostly the room.

The temps are quite high considering. You did mention you're not overclocking your cpu but did you at any point adjust the voltage and forgot to set it back? I don't doubt that airflow could be an issue but even my terrible coolermaster k380 was managing 30-32c idle on a hot summers day.

All of my voltage seems to be set on defaults. I will most likely have to add a few fans and reapply the Hyper 212 EVO, which I was hoping not to have to do. Oh well.
