CPU fan problem

Hey guys,

I have a new motherboard (Asus Z170-AR) and cooler (Cryorig R1 ultimate). It has 2 fans and only the fan connected to the CPU_Opt header is spinning at startup whilst the one connected to CPU_Fan isn't. Likewise, in the BIOS, it doesn't detect the non-spinning fan (N/A) whilst the other is monitored and displays its RPM.

How can I fix this? Or is this normal in that it will start spinning when temperatures get higher?

Help much appreciated.

Then yes, it might be a defective fan, or the cable.

Yeah I tried and it didn't work. I think it must be the fan itself and not the motherboard because when I tried a separate fan and also the 2nd fan (previously in CPU_Opt), they both spin. I will probably have to return the cooler unfortunately.

I think you might be referring to a port that is further away from this one that is for watercooling, near the GPU.
