How do I turn off graphic card ?

Solution
Move cable to the onboard video, disable the 970 in Device Manager. Won't do you that much good since when not gaming it would draw not much more power than at idle. You'd save maybe a few dollars a month in electricity costs by not using it. Not worth the hassle IMHO.

That's not how it works. Unless you have integrated graphics in your motherboard your computer wont display anything without a graphics card. So really you do need it. Plus it is a hassle trying to constantly plug it in and out, and you might damage it in the long run.

with pc with gpu there on all the time. if not you get no video from the pc. when a gpu today with the newest drivers are used and power safings are on the gpu will clock down to it lowest power settings. you can see this with gpu-z with nothing going on your gpu should clock down to almost 0. then if the mouse is moved or movie is played the gpu will clock up in speed.
