Hey there.

I've been a little paranoid recently since I bought a Corsair CX series 750W power supply, and the thing blew up my old Motherboard and CPU which was an Asus: P8H61-M, and an Intel Core i5 4440 3.1GHz Processor.

I put it down to faulty PSU because as soon as i plugged it in, it glowed blue and sparks went flying, and i did get compensation from Amazon for new better replacement parts.
But see now im worried about the next power supply i buy because even though im sure that the PSU wasnt too much for my old unit im afraid that this time i will screw up and blow it. So i was hoping i could get some expect opinions.

I now have, a Gigabyte Z97P Motherboard, and a new Intel Core i5 4690k I haven't chosen a new power supply yet, but i am currently looking at:

An XFX XXX 750W 80+ Bronze Semi Modual Power Supply.

Will this be too much for the new parts i have and possibly blow it?

or am i just over thinking this and i should buy it? I'm hoping to get it bought today so i can go back to Xmas shopping, and i have put off getting it now for about a week getting a lot of different opinions, but not many of them where helpful.

Thanks Very Much

Nothing will happen if you have too powerful of a power supply. Bad things can happen if you buy a poor quality one. XFX is one of the better brands for PSUs out there, you should be safe with that one. As long as you follow proper procedures when installing it.
