I've recently bought a 13" MBP 2015 and installed Windows along with OSX on it.

It's actually *far* from perfect but the most frustrating thing I've just discovered is that the USB transfer speed is TWICE as slow as it should be under Bootcamp!

I transfer the same 1.1 GB / 20,000 project files on my PC desktop, MBP Win10 and MBP OSX from the HD to a USB3 removabel drive and get the following times:

  • ■ PC/Win10 2:24;
    ■ MBP/OSX 2:27;
    ■ MBP/Win10: 4:38

It's clear that somehow Windows under Bootcamp is being severely crippled (I haven't checked what internal transfer speeds are like)

I've scoured the web but can't seem to find any information. The closest thing I thought would be related is Step 7 (Enable AHCI) in this article:

http://www.itworld.com/article/2826950/enterprise-software/running-windows-on-a-mac--part-3--the-complete-how-to.html?page=2

However, AHCI already appears to be enabled, so I don't want to start meddling with the MBR.

Or is this a USB issue?

Any takers on this one?

Thanks,
Dave

Not sure what you mean exactly?

I downloaded the Boot Camp installer and installed Boot Camp in the normal way. I have a mix of Apple and MS drivers, and the Boot Camp diamond shows in my System Tray.

I have to say, Apple's claim at providing a robust Windows environment via Boot Camp is a joke:

  • ■ Boot Camp only allows you two partitions (you have to jump through serious hoops to get 3, like I have)
    ■ the trackpad is crippled - only a central portion is actually responsive, clicks don't always work, it gets muddled between left and right clicks
    ■ the hard disk / USB is half as quick as when running under OSX
    ■ it sets up with the wrong keyboard drivers (@ and " are mixed up, etc)
    ■ the default wireless drivers don't work properly
    ■ it takes a lot of tweaking to get the display scaling working correctly (though this is MS fault probably)

The main reason (aside from development reasons) I bought Mac is for the awesome trackpad, but it's crippled on Windows. To find the HD is also crippled is extremely frustrating, but looks like something I may have to learn to live with.

It's especially galling as the exact same hardware works so well under OSX - it's as if Apple engineers have been instructed to write software that *deliberately* doesn't work very well (the trackpad has to be experienced to be believed)
