Hi All,

I have a homebuilt gaming PC that is a couple years old and it has been working great up until a couple months ago. It has now developed an issue while running games where it will suddenly either restart or the PC will continue "running" (fans are still going, sometimes the game sound continues to play through the speakers, etc) but all peripherals are dead and the PC won't respond to the reset button or a hard shut down with the power button. I have to flip the power switch on the PSU to shut it off. This usually occurs very shortly after starting the game. A lot of times I don't even make it to gameplay before it occurs. Then on other rare occasions I can play for hours before the issue occurs. A couple of times it has restarted when not even in game, just running a couple of apps and surfing the net.

I've already tried most of the more common fixes I've found online. I made sure MB bios and all drivers are up to date. MB was running a little hot on one of the temps so I added a heatsink to the MOSFET and added 3 more case fans (5 fans now). Everything is now cool as a cucumber. Hottest temp is on the GPU and it barely breaks 100 F in-game. I am at a loss right now...

Specs:
MSI 970A-G43 (I know, it's a crappy board, but I added a heatsink to the mosfet and that helped temps tremendously)
AMD FX-6300 (stock clock speed),
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
MSI R7 260, 2 GB
OCZ ZT Series 650W PSU

Any help is greatly appreciated!

it can be a problem with the power supply, when you run the game the Memory, CPU, fans need more wattage because you are utilizing more than browsing the web or watching videos, so probably you should get one with more wattage and see if that is the problem, if it is then upgrade. Also it can be the RAM, depends on the game you are playing you might need more RAM so you probably check that too.
