Hey guys.

This is kinda urgent, I've been looking through internet for information for about a week, i am still not sure about this, that's why i want to ask you here.

So, the thing is my friend wants to play modern games, such as Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Battlefield 4, Dragon Age 3. But he's currently stuck with Core 2 Duo E8200. We're been talking about this with him, and he has budget only for any of the Core 2 Quads, he can't afford anything but them. So the question is : Will it be beneficial to upgrade to Core 2 Quad for modern games? I've been looking back and forth, some people say that Core 2 Duo is better ( because of game's nature of using only 2 cores efficiently ), some say Core 2 Quad is better. If it will be beneficial, then which Core 2 Quad we should get? Currently we can buy Core Quad Q9300 for a decent price, is it any good, or there's much better ones?

There's also a possibility to upgrade to Xeonx5460 ( Q9650 clone ) ( with 775 socket mod/adapter ), anybody tried this with same mobo?

His setup is :
Core 2 Duo E8200
Asus P5Q SE ( 775 socket )
GTX 650
500w PSU

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you, just ordered e5450 with 771-775 adapter and mod to fit into 775 socket, did some research on also how it performs in games and what should i do to make it work, and it gives ~1.5-2.5 times better performance in games which utilize more than 2 core correctly.
