Hello,

I have purchased an SSD and have read and watched videos on installing it. They seem to be confusing me for some reason. I have about 170gb of data on this PC that I'd like to migrate to my SSD along with my OS. To do that I assume I need the cable hardware to connect the SSD to my PC and migrate my information through it?

Does anyone know of a simple checklist or have a step-by-step I should follow for best results because some of the comments about the instruction's I've read make me not want to follow them.

Thank you!

This. Install your SSD internally using SATA + power cable. SATA should have come with your SSD and you should have a power cable free - if not remove your DVD drive and use the power cable from that. Same applies if you don't have a free SATA connector on your motherboard / cable in box.

Cloning will never be as good as a full OS reinstall on the SSD but it still works well.

It really helps a potential responder who comes across your query if you would provide details about the system you're working with. Only in this way can an intelligent response be provided to you. OK?

1. What kind of a PC are you working with? Is it a desktop PC or a laptop/notebook?
2. What's the operating system (OS)?
3. Re: the source disk (the disk you want to clone) - what is its capacity & how much data is on that disk? If the disk is multi-partitioned provided details as to its setup.
4. What is the make/model of the SSD you purchased? What's its size?

And any other details you think pertinent for a potential responder.
