I'm looking for a new computer build.

Approximate Purchase Date: January 2016

Budget Range: 1500-2000 Canadian Dollars; Before Rebates; Before Shipping.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Game development using Unreal Engine 4, Gaming, Video Editing, and 3D Animation.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

I would like an Intel i7 CPU, on either the X99 or Z170 platforms. I prefer nVIDIA over AMD, and would like a GTX 980 or GTX 980ti. Also, I will have to put the computer in a relatively small space, so I need it to not generate too much heat. Finally, I need a black or white mid-tower or full-tower case, from Corsair, Fractal Design, Cooler Master, or NZXT, preferably with a side panel window. Also, I would like this hard drive/solid state drive hybrid by Seagate.

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: NCIX and Amazon

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: 1080p or 1440p

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My old Windows XP computer finally died on me.

Thank you.

Solution
consider this suggestion:
- 5820k + noctua 15s (single fan)
- asus x99-m ws
- lpx corsair 16 or 32 gb ram
- gpu 980 or 970? 970 is almost half price, but performance close to 980 - you can use the 970 mini version from asus, - excellent choice for small form factor pc's.
- raijintek styx matx case (just note that it does not allow dual gpu + AIO 240mm water cooler. If using 120 AIO, positioned at the back of the case, then it's ok to have dual gpu setup.
- psu - corsair ax760i - please check though if psu vs card is conflicting. Because case supports 280mm gpu card, but if psu is bigger it might have a conflict...
- 1-2 extra airflow noctua fans 120mm
- hdd/ssd maybe you can recover from old system? if not, i suggest ssd 850 evo or pro...

- odd - case supports odd but you need slot-in type - you need to digg for this...

hope it helps with your options...

My comment was in the context of putting all the components into the raijintek styx case.
The styx is an aluminium minimalistic case, it comes in several colours including black or silver and there is option for side window.

Due to the small size and the interior setup of the case, the size of psu might limit the gpu length.
