I'm looking to upgrade to a GTX 970 for 1440p gaming but my casing has a maximum supported GPU length of 11.5 inches. I had two options to choose from since my budget is limiting (It was originally for a GTX 960), A Gigabyte one or the Asus Strix. The Gigabyte is 11.6 inches long so that won't work, even if it does somehow I don't want it to overheat just because of that. The Asus Strix 970 Is 11 inches long so I'll have half an inch of space to spare. I'm still wondering if this will work out.

Here's the link to my current casing:

And the potential GPU:

Solution
It should be fine. Probably just need to play around with your cable route a bit (which should be an issue anyway since most of them will be at the back).

No, I mean to ask if this is really practical. Fitting an 11" GPU in a max 11.5" supporting case. Or will it cause problems.

I guess so, the cable's won't go past the card when its so tightly fit as it is. Will probably end up spending hours finding the optimal placement for the cables :p

I just don't want a smart ass salesman telling me "No sir that won't fit in your current case, you'll need to buy one of our expensive new PC case for that card"

Oh and yes I am also trying to figure out which PSU to buy. Sorry somehow I missed out on my own comment asking about it. Anyway I have made another thread about that question, if you would like to help with that please post there.
Thanks!

I did get the Strix 970 and it fits in there quite alright. The only problem is the cables, which are a mess. The card is a close fit but there is an inch or two to spare which is great. I fear the cables are too close to the heat sink though.
