So this is what i have right now.

Intel Core i5-4690
ASUS H97-PLUS
NZXT KRAKEN X41 - 140mm
8GB-Kit Crucial Ballistix Sport Series DDR3-1600
FRACTAL DESIGN Define R4 Black Pearl
Corsair Enthusiast Series RM550, Modular ,80 Plus Gold 550 Watt
GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G, 4GB GDDR5
WD Red RD1000M 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB
Samsung SSD 850 EVO SATA 6Gb/s 120 GB

Is a water cooling even worth it without overclocking my cpu, if not what else should i get?
If i wanted to overclock (not sure yet) i would get the i5-4690k, what motherboard should i get?

Solution
Upgrade to a better PSU. The RM550 is a tier 3 model.

You don't need to water cool if you don't plan on overclocking. Get an air cooler instead. The Hyper 212 Evo (under $50) is a go-to choice, but there are others that work just as well.

Any Z97 motherboard will work for a 4690K CPU. Asus and Gigabyte are two of the most popular mobo brands, known for their feature per dollar ratio and their quality control. MSI and AsRock are okay too, just less hyped.
