I think you can see this any way anybody will like. Competition is key and Nvidia does what ever it can to hinder its competition to get ahead. The way I see it is instead of AMD bitching about how un-fair this playing field is, have them put in more effort to make there own tech and beat out nvidia.

Give nvidia a test of there own medicine so to speak. Playing fair never got anyone anywhere.

Of course again, this is just my own opinion.

AMD could stop being such a good corporate citizen and use investor and customer's money to dangle in front of cash-strapped developers, but as quid-pro-quo, require they incorporate their proprietary techniques into the code (rather than being silly and making it open and optional).....but that isn't who they are.

The good thing is that companies that employ these tactics often take it too far eventually, and it back-fires.

Depends on the company. You ever heard of Dolby Digital. I am sure you have. Proprietary AC3 encoding. Want it.. spend the cash. Don't... go somewhere else. They are still printing money. Evertz developed there own AC3.. not as good at Dolby Digital. But it gets the job done if you don't want to spend the cash. Wonder why Linear Acoustic licenses DD, DD E, and DD decoders in there products? I don't see DD going anywhere anytime soon.

as I have said... you can either complain about such tactics like AMD does.. or you can bring some new technologies to the arena and start to level the playing field. Survival of the fittest... competition. Eat or be eaten. But as we have been seeing in the particular country... it is not about what you can do but how hard you can yell to get what you want and this exactly another tactic AMD is using as you are seeing more and more videos just like this.

In business there is no such thing as a good corporate-citizen. At the end of the day it is all about bottom line. AMD chooses to do what they do because they are putting there money in another basket than what Nvidia is doing. That does not make them a good corporate-citizen. That makes them a corporation that wants to survive to see another day. If you choose to see them that way than there marketing strategy seems to be working. You can bitch and moan about nvidias tactics.. but you can not deny that they are working.

At the end it is there strategy of AMD.

I am neither a fan boy of AMD or Nvidia. I just believe in competition and bringing your best foot forward and coming up to the mark and to me AMD just has not been doing it with either there CPU's or GPU's.
