Motherboard Failure? No LED

I have (had?) a 5820k with ASRock extreme4 mobo; 16gb corsair vengeance; corsair hxi 750 psu; OS was on a M2 Samsung 950; gpu a R9 290. The comp musta crashed - I had it doing an encode while I was on a call, and when the call ended the monitor said no signal (but all fans were still running, including those hooked up to mobo fan headers); but when I tried to wake it up I got nothing.

I tried to reboot, but couldn't get anything from the main part of the computer. No POST, no picture out, no LED on the mobo indicating which BIOS it booted from. But all fans, ODD, etc would turn on with power.

Put the PSU in another comp and it worked fine; don't think it's that. Took out RAM and nothing changed. Tried to breadboard - nothing changed.

Had the CPU OC'd to 4.4Ghz, which seemed a mild over clock: my temps were never above 60 C, I think thanks to the custom water loop (two 360mm rads cooling gpu and cpu - somewhat overkill but was considering crossfire).

ASRock said they will RMA (bought it in October, assembled in November)...could it be the CPU? Really don't think I thermally hurt it. When I bread boarded I couldn't even get cpu fan to turn on (hooked up old air cooler after I had drained loop - wasn't about to fill it for testing). Flummoxed as to why when I bread boarded I couldn't even get fans to go on when they worked before when I powered up.

Oh - I tried clearing CMOS via the reset button, and also switching jumpers to boot from backup BIOS - nothing seemed to help.

I know some mobos are DOA, but you see them fail after a month? I treated it nice...ambient couldn't have been over 18 C, and I watched core temps carefully as I did the OC...

Waddya all think? Odd mobo failure? Could it be CPU?

Solution
Between the CPU and board then over 90% of the time the board. Start with the board.
I am presuming that you eliminated the GPU when bread boarding.

Any idea why power button would make fans and ODD and whatnot active after initial failure, but then when bread boarding I couldn't even get that. I tried adding one fan back to a chassis header and it wouldn't work...

3 weeks to RMA sucks, but I should be glad it's mobo... I bought the cpu first and not sure it's still in warranty.
