Ive installed windows 8.1 on my pc and ive had a few issues. When i log in, everything seems to work fine but after a couple minutes my applications and files on my taskbar and desktop dissapear. Also, a "flicker" occurs every four seconds. This only occurs with 8.1 and not in 8. Despite the flickering i could open taskmanager and apparently when the flickering occurs, my cpu, ethernet and disk usage goes up a bit. it occurs in safe mode as well.

make sure on your pc if it clean install and not an upgrade of the os that you installed the mb chipset drivers and all other drivers needed for the onboard and after market gpu. if the pc has onboard and gpu video it may be switching for one port to the other in the bios make sure the primany display set to peg/pci if your using a gpu. if your using onboard gpu make sure you installed the updated video drivers for it.
