I have a Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB SSD. I used this SSD to store all my skyrim and fallout content.
Around 6 months ago, I tried to open my SSD to look at my files but it wouldn't open. So I restarted but this time my computer dint even recognize the SSD. So then I shut down my computer, and opened up my side panel on my tower and made sure all the wires were on right. I booted up my PC and I was able to look at my SSD files. However one of my folders was missing. This folder is ~120 GB worth of skyrim mods. Worst part is the space taken up by my folder is still being taken up.
Is there any way I could retrieve even though it's been 6 months? Could I possibly view the folder that's missing? Is there anyway to clear up the space taken without formatting?

Well first thing I would assume is that you may have accidentally hidden the folder. To see all hidden items (to find out if this is the case), go to My PC -> View (Top left) -> Click 'Hidden Files'. This is for Windows 10, but I'm sure you could simply google your Operating System and it would tell you how to find hidden files.

Other than that, I don't know of much you could do other than reformatting the drive. When you say Skyrim mods, I know there are tons on Steam for free and easily downloadable, so you might just want to re download what you can from there if all else fails.

Good luck!

Okay, so there actually was a way to get my stuff back. I made all hidden files visible, but nothing showed up. I decided on searching the drive for the files I'm looking for. I was found it under an invisible folder called found.000. I couldn't navigate to it on the file explorer, so I opened up command prompt as administrator and navigated to the folder from there. Inside were 3 .chk files. One of them, called dir0000.chk was basically the folder that went missing. Because windows couldn't navigate to the folder, I had to manually copy the files elsewhere using the search function. All the .exe files were messed up, but all I needed were the mods and .ini files. The order of the mods is lost but is very much salvageable. I will probably moves the rest of the files in the SSD and reformat it to get the lost space back. Although you didn't directly help me, you indirectly helped me find a solution. Thanks a lot.

Also, sorry for the late update. Christmas times are busy.

Look in the search function on the drive to see if your files are still there. If you spot a file look at it's destination. If you are able to open this destination in your File Explorer, then you should be able to use a recovery tool to get back your files. If not, open up command prompt as administrator and enter:
   cd {Destination}\
If you need to change drives, then enter:
   cd /d {Drive Letter}:\
After you've reached the destination, enter:
   dir
to see it's contents. If the files you are looking for are here, then go back to the search function and manually copy the files elsewhere. Hopefully this helps.

Yes they are busy times! Hope you had a good one. And I'm glad I could indirectly help.
