The QNAP TS-431 has two ethernet interfaces, which can apparently be configured separately. I know the TS-431 also has support for OpenVPN. Anyone know if one of the ethernet ports could be configured so incoming files via FTP are downloaded through a VPN (keeping the nas somewhat anonymous from the outside), and the other ethernet port could be configured to not have data routed through a VPN, so that interface could for example be used for transferring files on/off the nas to/from other HDDs on the network?

Only reason I ask this is because I know downloading through a VPN is painfully slower than if you weren't routing everything through a VPN. Thing is, I don't mind that the incoming files from FTP are downloaded slowly and take a while, but I do want to be able to transfer files from the NAS to other HDDs on the network quickly, aka not routed through the VPN.

The main use will be to like I said download media via FTP or whatever other solution, and use the drives for storage. Thank you!
