Could someone please explain fan connectors?

Hello guys

I have 3pin fans connected to my motherboard. Because they run at full speed all the time, I bought a fan controller. The NZXT Sentry Mix 2 says it has 4 pin connectors even though the wires have only 2 pins. I have connected my fans but it is making a terrible coil whine noise. So somebody suggested I should try 4 pin fans. Now here is the part I do not understand. The only 4 pin fans I can find to buy have either a 3 pin connection or a 4 pin Molex. I cannot connect a molex to my fan controller. Coul someone please illuminate me ?

Yes but when I connect the 3 pin fans to this controller it is making a horrible coil whine noise even though the controller does control the fans with no problems. This is my 3rd fan controller swapped because of the same reason. Don't really want to go back into that store to swap it for the 4th time.......

Oh... thats' odd. Well is it making the sounds when you have all the fans set to full speed or only when you start to lower the fan speeds?

Also does it make the noise if you have no fans connected to it?

OH MY GOD I am so dumb. That's what you get if you act before actually thinking. Most likely all the fan controllers were working alright. It was something to do with the BIOS. So I got today the Phobya TPC fan controller and did the exact same noise. The thing is, when I start the computer, all the fans are spinning normally and it's making no noise for about 3-4 seconds. That is about the time all the BIOS content is loading so I thought it must be something inside the BIOS. I went in and saw nothing that might be the problem so I pressed "load optimized defaults" and restarted. It is now working perfectly and I can't hear anything at all. So it must have been something inside the BIOS.
