Hi Guys!

I want to buy a FULL Modular PSU that runs on 550W but I am not going to be using all of its power cords, leaving some out. Even if not all are in use, will it use 550W of Electricity or not, because not all wires are in use?

Please let me know.
Thanks

It gives only what the PC needs at that moment, no matter what cables are or are not connected.

Just like a car. Capable of 125mph, but if you're only driving at 40mph, that's all it is doing.
Hi

The maximum power which can be supplied is 550 watts but only if graphics card(s) can use enough 12volt power

If an integrated graphics chip on cpu or chipset is used much less power will be used

It depends on if one pci-e cable has both 8 pin and 6 pin connectors which can safely supply 150+75 watts

Most of the time when not running graphics intensive games or programs a psu uses much less than half its maximum rated power

Make sure you dont loose the spare power cables, if there is enough space in the case put them in side the case
