Hello,

I have almost decided to choose INTEL I-7 (5820K) ( 2011 ) EXTR for video editing work.
I'd get 8GB RAM (I think it'd be enough or may be increase soon)

a. I do NOT play games so I think I don't need graphic card (but if my work requires then I'd consider buying it in near future).
b. I will never overclock, I just chose 5820K because it seems like better option for video editing.
c. I will use 1TB WD Harddisk (Plus 2 additional harddisks)
d. Budget: I have to buy in anyway as getting a PC is must have for me so my preference is just get right the product suits to my need, good quality, durability as future proof for next 5 yrs (at least).

FYI: I want my MOBO should be future proof (approx. 5 yrs)

1. Please help me to choose right MOBO as all of these are very expensive :) . These MOBO's are available at near by market so I prefer to buy any of these (But if you know any better option then recommend me):

ASUS X99 A (2011) XTEREME
ASUS X99 DELUX (2011) XTREME
ASUS X99 PRO (2011) XTREME
ASUS X99 SYBERTOOTH (2011)
GIGABYTE X99 UD4 (2011)

When you recommend MOBO then please also mention why do you prefer that so that I have a better understanding what I'm about to buy.

2. Is stock cooler comes with I-7 5820K, if not then please help me to choose from the below list as these are available at near by market (But if you know any better option then recommend me)? As I said I will never overclock, I just chose 5820K because it seems like better option for video editing.

3. How much PSU wattage do I need for i7 5820K and which cabinet will be best? Please help me to choose the best from this list (as I don't have any knowledge or preference for these):

Solution
Well, we were both working ;) With a 6700K (it has an iGPU (internal graphics), so might look at the Asus Z170-A or the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, PSU stick with a good 5-600 Watt, DRAM 2400-2666 16GB if possible, would go Corsair or Kingston/Hyper X, cooler the 212 EVO or the Cryorig H7

Thanks for asking :)

>What kind of video editing will you be doing?
Currently, I create video of photo slideshow for my client, approx 7 mins long or upto 10 mins long.
720px, 30fps (video bitrate 4500). I can't go for 1024px and higher FPS because of less resources of my current PC. I use AVS Video Editor and sometimes Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 (I'm having to use old version of Adobe Premiere Pro because my system resources are limited so far)
Most likely in near future I'll also use CrazyTalk animation (system requirement http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/download.html#requirment) and if this requires GPU then I'd buy it.

>Even for most doing this at home - they generally go at least 16GB?
At present, my video creation takes approx. 10 mins and I've old era CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2.20GHz
2GB Ram
Intel 82945G Express

I guess these new CPU's can do same work far much faster but I do agree that I must make my new computer build future proof (for at least 5 yrs) for 2 reasons::::::::
1. I might also work on videos which I shoot (not sure about it 100% right now)
2. Second reason, I can invest once even little bit extra but not again very soon
So I'm open for any suggestions you give me, as you know far much more than me

>What GPU do you plan to use?
I invested massive amount of time reading forums, gaining knowledge and found these CPU's i7 5820K or i7 6700K are really good for video editing work and strong enough so I guess I don't need a GPU but TBVH I'm not 100% sure.

If you need to know anything else please do ask me, I'll be happy to answer you.

From the sounds of it I'd go something like the 4790K with a Asus Z97-A and 8GB will prob suffice, even as your production increases these should carry you through 5 or so years with nothing more than a DRAM upgrade and maybe getting a GPU. The 4790K comes with CPU cooler which will suffice until such time you need more power then can simply get a cooler like the H7 or 212 EVO and OC the CPU

1. Ah, you forgot to tell the PSU for this configuration "4790K with a Asus Z97-A and 8GB" (please see my above list of PSU/Cabinets)

2. The 4790K and 6700K both seem identical: 4 cores, 8 threads, 4 GHz, 8 MB Intel® Smart Cache ,only TDP is different and slightly other things. Seems like as 6700K has bit improved internal structure, a little refinement so Intel is charging too much price for it, isn't? And

3. Could you please tell me your preferred configuration based on my requirement for i7 5820K:
MOBO, PSU (Cabinet), RAM, 'Stock cooler/extra cooler' (if required). You can see the above list of Mobo and PSU in my first post.

I want to compare both the prices.

Thank you so such :)

1. More than what you need, but will have you covered when you get a GPU - Seasonic S12II 520 Watts for PSU

2. Can go either way, the 6700K is a bit newer and will run DDR4 which can extend up and beyond the life of this rig - so if in budget might be a better choice

3. Mobo - I'd go the Asus X99-A, the Cooler Master 922 (might look for the 912 also (great case), DRAM I'd go 16GB of GSkill Ripjaws 4 in 2666, for a cooler the Hyper 212 EVO or Cryorig H7 is plenty sufficient

Oh, sorry I forgot to greet you, Merry Christmas and Happy holiday season (though I said but I still work even during holidays)

Thank you so much for answering, you're saving my life by guiding me :)

1. >Seasonic S12II 520 Watts for PSU.............
1. Sorry to say 520 watts isn't available at my end, so should I consider 500 Watts or 600Watts as a second best option?

3. >Mobo - I'd go the Asus X99-A .................................. i7 5820K
3. I just found i7 5820K doesn't have in-built graphics and you also didn't recommend it. Doesn't it require a GPU?

3. >Skill Ripjaws 4 in 2666 .................
3. This brand isn't available at my end. Below brands are available
KINGSTON
SIMMTRONICS
HYNIX
HYPERX,
CORRSAIR
CRUCIAL
Which of them do you suggest as an alternate?

As we discussed 6700K is newer (could have an advantage of future proof for next 5 yrs or more) & might have some improvement in internal structure otherwise 4790K & 6700K are identical so

4. Could you please tell me your preferred configuration based on my requirement (video editing - explained above) for i7 6700K :
MOBO, PSU (Cabinet), RAM, 'Stock cooler/extra cooler' (if required), GPU (if required). You can see the list of Mobo and PSU in my first post.

Once I have this configuration, It'd be easier for me to decide among based on many factors.
