Hey, I have never used this site before so i am really sorry if this is in the wrong spot, and sorry if i don't give all of the details you need. I currently have an AMD FX4300 CPU, and an AMD R7 200 GPU, and i want to upgrade my graphics card to boost some frames on my games. I also have a 600w PSU. My budget is around $300, could go a tad over, but not much. I'm not looking to go from 20 frames to 60, but i would like to make my borderline playable games to playable. (Ark, Rust, etc.) Thanks in advance, and if you need any more just tell me, and sorry now if i'm not very computer part literate, i am good with pcs but still learning the insides. :) Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Buy at the least a 6 core AMD they are far better.I have a r9 290 4gb tri oc and i get great performance out of my unit.O'c the cpu and at best a 1000w power supply.I have my cpu at 3.9 ghz. The AMD setup will draw alot of power out of the wall.Espesially if you run liquid cooling and lighting and a couple of HD's and DVD burner.etc.I have a 850 watt ps and if i oc my gpu more the power supply shuts down temporarily. In winter you save on using the heater because the beast gives out a bit of heat.Your gaming experience will be far better

Then you must have a really crappy 850w PSU because I have a 8core @ 4.6ghz, watercooled, OC'd GPU that is watercooled, and don't even come close to abusing my 650w PSU. Size isn't everything with a PSU. Quality is.

I am not really looking to overclock at the moment, i am too afraid to mess anything up, and i don't want to mess anything up. I most likely will save the upgrade for the cpu for later. Would you still suggest the r9 290?

Why do you say you suggest i upgrade my processor? I thought that my gpu was the lower quality of the two. I know my cpu isn't the best but, i thought the gpu was worse

An R7 2xx series isn't very specific, there's an R7 250, R7 250X, R7 260X, R7 265.

Anyway, with $300, get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131672

and consider upgrading your CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286
($100 after promo code)

Edit: And if you're planning on making ARK playable, that's a joke.

Running it with an OC'd i7-5930k & Crossfire Fury X's cant even run it maxed out on 1440p without lowering the rendering resolution to sub 1080p...and MSI afterburner's still telling me I'm using 7.5GB of video memory.

...and 26GB of RAM.

That game is in desperate need of the DX12 upgrade they keep pushing off.

Alright, thank you much for your response, and as far as I know, it is just an R7 200. That is the deepest detail i can find, i didn't think there was any more, i know of the 240 and 390 and all of these things, but mine just says AMD Radeon R7 200.

hopefully i did that image right. And i was just looking for an fps boost in general, i just got gta 5 and not sure if i can run it lol. I mean, i love my computer, but i just want to get a few more frames or a few graphic settings higher. Also, are those two parts compatible with this motherboard?

I don't think the picture worked so the motherbaord is and MSI 760GM-P23 (MS-7641)

I dont get that, because that is what 2 different programs say, i'm sorry i'm still kinda new to parts. And thank you, i wasn't fully sure what all this AM3 and AM3+ stuff was, and i don't want to invest like $400 to have them show up and find out that my motherboard doesn't support them. Will my 600w psu be enough to support those 2 new ones?

I'm dumb. I clicked the big look up button, and found now it is an XFX R7 250
