Is it possible to update HTC Desire 820G+ to lollipop or marshmallow?

i need to know whether i can update my android OS to one of the latest versions.my phone is currently running android Kit kat. when i check for updates from the phone,it says the device is up to date.can someone please tell me the steps i should take to update my phones os safely.thanks.

I guess the Desire 820G+ still has a KitKat firmware.

You can, however, always install a custom firmware, but the Desire 820G+ has a Mediatek chipset, and Mediatek is known for its anti-developer environment.

I guess you have to stick with KitKat only. Sorry!

Is installing a custom firmware safe.

The link doesn't seem credible to me, the comments below the post also seem to be fake. An update this big would have been posted at XDA, and I cannot see anything related to your phone in there.
