Does the RAM's memory type depend on CPU?

I saw in the specifications of intel core i5 6500 that their Memory Type is DDR4-2133.

Does this mean they don't support more that 2133 Mhz for DDR4 RAM? What will happen if I install a 2400+ Mhz RAM on my mainboard(say z170A).

Solution
The RAM speed is determined by the motherboard you choose. The RAM speed listed for the processor is just for design specifications.
Any DDR-4 memory will run, it just won't run at more than 2133Mhz. I mess around with a lot of systems at school and use Trident X 2400Mhz DDR-3 memory. On some systems I can use it at 2400Mhz, on others, I can use it only at 1600Mhz, or even 1333Mhz, but it does function on all systems.

I couldn't find any CPU that says 2400 or more for DDR4 RAMs. So does this mean 2133 MHz is the maximum frequency now?
