Cannot access files on pen drive?

Hey! So I recently got a new laptop and I put all my files from my old laptop onto a pen drive to transfer over. However, after putting the pen drive into my new laptop it came up with a message saying 'USB needs formatting.' But formatting causes the files to be erased so I don't want to do that.

I looked around to find any solutions and there was a solution by going into Command Prompt and using 'Chkdsk' to recover files. Though when I tried this it came up with 'File system is RAW. Chkdsk is not available for RAW system files.'

PLEASE HELP! I really don't want to lose my files :(

Sounds like a defective device. You could try formatting again and then copying the files from the original source, but I would strongly recommend you not use that USB drive for anything critical in the future. Time for it to go.
