I'm not too familiar with hardware so I'm a bit confused. I wanted to install a new video card into my desktop computer so I can play skyrim and the video card seems to be working but I cannot play skyrim even though this video card MUST support it. Here is the computer I am using

http://www.cnet.com/products/gateway-gm5684e-pentium-e2180-2-ghz-1-gb-160-gb/specs/

Here is the video card I bought and installed

radeon graphics card R5 230

I installed the drivers that came with the card and it said they installed successfully with no errors, I also uninstalled something called "intel graphics accelerator driver" or something like that.

when you installed that low end video card you now have two video outputs. make sure your monitor connected to the gpu and not to the onboard intel chipset. use gpu-z to see if it reads both or one video chipset. you may have to in the bios set primany display to peg/pci to turn on the new gpu. the game your playing is a high end game and you need a 980 or higher to play it.

not sure what gpu-z, but I suppose I can go to the bios thing.

I dont understand how this graphics card is worse than my 2011 macbook? I can run skyrim fine on there, but cant on my windows... that makes zero sense. Surely this graphics card can run skyrim

I'm in bios but do not know where to set primary display?
here is where I am at. http://imgur.com/UrAfirU

I check steam's system requirements and as far as I can tell, this card matches the requirements.

steam says Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM

this card is compatible up to directx 11.2 and has 2GB DDR3 RAM
