Okay, so, I got a new pc for Christmas. I have windows 7 pro installed, but I made a mistake when entering the product key, it was a 32-bit os key, but my pc had 8GB installed, so I found a 64-bit product key and clicked "Change Product Key", but right clicking on "computer" and then clicking "properties" still said that the pc had a 32-bit os installed. I noticed that the "shut down" icon had the update icon next to it, I thought this might upgrade me to 64-bit, so I clicked shutdown. It then said that it was installing 228 updates so, I thought "Alright I'll go play on my consoles, watch tv with the family etc.. after all, it is Christmas day" However, now the download is just staying at 122, and not changing. I was thinking about possibly just turning it off, but I didn't want to screw it up. Any ideas on what to do?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

32bit to 64bit is a complete reinstall of the OS. There is no 'upgrade'.

As for your current OS updates? I expect the servers at MS are pretty hammered today. Several hundred thousand (or million) people just cranked up a brand new PC today.

Okay so, I slept and when I woke up my computer was on the desktop, ready to go. So I presume that all the updates were installed and the computer restarted, however, there is still the update icon next to the shut down button, probably a different update however. Anyway, thanks for the help with the 32-bit 64-bit thing.
