I recently purchased a GeForce GT 740 4GB DDR3 graphics card. When I try to download the drivers, it says that it couldn't find any compatible hardware. I assumed this was because I didn't plug in the PCIE power connector. When I inspected the card, I couldn't find any power slots, just a pair of DVI slots and a mini HDMI slot. Does this video card draw its power from the motherboard or does it need a power connector from the psu?

Correct, there is no 6 pin header for aux power. It gets all it power from the slot. If the driver couldn't find any suitable hdwr, it may be a defective card. Or a defective driver installation. Have you tried the driver from the AMD site? http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
