I have a custom built pc that relies on ethernet connection because it doesnt have wifi antenna. At home the wired internet connection works great. I moved to my parents' place for the holiday and i connected the router through a wifi adapter (which the pc detecte as an ethernet cable, so shouldnt be different), but there is no connection, network center says that there is no valid ip configuration for the ethernet.
I cannot directly connect my pc to the router because of the distance, and I have used the same adapters before on another pc and they work. I've tried the solutions on this site (ipconfig release and renew) but the problem persists. My parents' wifi devices all connect with no problem.
