Over black Friday I replaced my MB, RAM, Processor and monitor. This week I ordered more RAM. I can't get the two sets of RAM to work together. Does anyone have any ideas? Am I SOL? Do I need to buy matching ram?

The RAM I bought on black Friday is G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

The RAM I bought this week is Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 (PC3-12800) 240-Pin UDIMM Memory BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00/BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00.

Edit: the system works with either set of RAM, but not with both sets.

Current specs: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H | Intel 4670k@ 3.5G | HIS 6790 2G CCC | G-skill 8G DDR3 1600MHz 9-9-9-24| Samsung SSD 850 EVO 2.5" SATA III 250GB SSD 520 Series
120GB, SATA 6Gb/s | Western Digital Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s HD | Rosewill Capstone
750w modular | Win 10 pro 64bit | Antec 1200

The GSkill is an older model that uses low density memory ICs (chips), The Crucial are newerr and I believe made with high density ICs, can try raising the DRAM voltage + 0.05 and the Vtt about the same, if no joy we can try dropping to 1333, but may be better off just getting a single set of the full amount you want/need. Even getting an identical set of Ripjaws offers no guarantees it will play with your other Ripjaws

I can still get both models of DDR3. Should I get the Ballistix or G-skill? I see you said that the G-skill might not be compatible with matching models, but it is the exact model. Shouldnt it be compatible?

Thanks for the link. I will research the voltages changes. As a back up I found a set of 16gb (2x8) of ram for a good deal.

thx

by the way, every time I selected your link, I got an "internet explorer has quit working" message. Probably on my end.
