Hi there,

It has been a very long day. I was extremely excited to receive these two games for Christmas, but... my laptop is throwing this error at me.

I have attempted nearly every fix I could find, but they're all throwing even more problems at me. I tried to copy in .dll files, but was told I didn't have permission for System32 etc (in Safe Mode, and logged in as admin). I tried to uninstall Microsoft C++, but was told to restart - did so, still there, tried to update but it did nothing. Attempted to do the same with .NET, but errors again.

It's nearing on 3am and I'm at the point of tears. I'm not any good with computers, I just follow the instructions. Please please help me.

I put it in this forum as it's not a problem with a specific game, it's with my laptop. :(

UPDATE: I finally managed to update NET, un and reinstall C++ and replace the .dll files. Nothing. However, I found that Rogue launches on my old laptop without problem (and immediately crashes due to very low specs). Does anyone have any idea as to how I could fix this, using my old laptop?

0xC0 errors usually mean something wasn't allocated or deallocated properly, and there's nothing you can really do about it. You can try changing the startup ini parameters and hope that one render path works, but it's usually something that only happens with bad programming (I would know from experience ;) )

I'm afraid I don't completely understand what you're saying. I'm sorry, I'm not very tech-savvy.

AC Rogue and Unity were released at the same time, and Black Flag (which came a year before) works just fine. Do you think there's possibly a .dll file that they're using, that BF is not? Perhaps finding the file and replacing it would help?

I'm saying it's a programming bug due to ubisoft being run by idiots that don't believe in QC (and overworked developers that don't have time to crush bugs when higher ups say content is more important than gameplay). You can try reinstalling the game again, and hope that it installs correctly. To be on the safe side, run the installer in administrator mode and open the game in administrator mode (first time only)

I... dunno if it's to do with the game really, though? As it installed fine on my other laptop? Ugh, PC Gaming is a right bitch with Ubisoft.

Thanks for the solutions, I'm really just done now. I've reinstalled the one game twice, not in administrator mode, but still no luck. Reinstalled Unity once as well. I think I'm just going to give up and buy a Playstation. My PS2 served me much better for many years than this damn year-old laptop has.
