Brother is offering a free CPU or motherboard, trying to decide on AMD build

Greetings,

My brother goofed up, and ended up with a CPU (FX8320) and a motherboard (A88XM) that are incomparable. Since then, he has decided (wisely) to go with an Intel build featuring and i5 and has passed the return date on his CPU and motherboard purchases. As a late present, I can have either one for free. I'm trying to upgrade from an old clunker (Xeon 5160 with 9800gtx+), and would like to know which piece of hardware would be better for starting a build to play Blizzard games (WoW and SC2).

Common sense would say to go with the FX 8320, but most Blizzard games are not optimized for multi-threading, so I am considering going with the A88XM and using an AMD Athlon X4 860K since I believe that it's single-thread perfomrance is superior to the 8-core FX8320, and single-thread performance is, in theory, the driving force behind performance in blizzard games. Another option is an i3 build, but I am hesitant since I have other options that are free. Here are the other components of the build that I am planning, irregardless of the processor/motherboard I choose:

GPU: radeon r7-360
Case: Rosewill Challenger ATX Mid-tower
Power supply: Corsair CX430 430W
Ram: 8GB, don't have a brand picked out yet
Harddrive: WD Blue 1TB harddrive
Plus a new monitor/keyboard and probably some liquid cooling for these hot AMD CPUs

What do you gentlemen believe to be the best build for blizzard games given my unique situation. I don't really have a budget per se, but I am searching for the best value, and I only play Blizzard games which really don't require extreme PCs to play.

Thanks!
