I have run into several problems. First off, my card won't fit into the case where the first PCIe slot is. But I also don't have enough pins to power the card. My question is this: If I get a new PSU with enough pins, and I install the card into the second PCIe slot, will it work?

I've ordered this part:https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ALK3KEM/ref=oh_aui_i_sh_pre_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as well as this card:http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Gaming-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00NH5T1MS. It'll all fit into this board: http://www.amazon.com/LGA1155-CrossFireX-Motherboard-Z77-EXTREME4/dp/B007KTY4A6

Hi Kyras

First things first, you have made a good decision on the power supply. I have used Corsair PSU's in all of my builds and they have been great. Only 1 has ever failed (after 6 years) and it did so as a gentlemen, taking none of my other parts with it. Having the right tool for the job (connectors) is always the best solution and it will give you piece of mind moving forward.

The card that you have bought is a great card. I was undecided on going with the G1 or the MSI gaming as they were on par, but went with the MSI due to a good deal on the price and included games at the time. If you are at 1080p / 1440p it is the best bang for the buck.

In regards to whether the card will work in the second PCI-E slot I am unable to...

Nope, the Second slot doesnt work unless you have 2 cards. I will only work in the top slot.

here look at this thread i helped solve yestertday. the Card wasnt working casue the OP was putting it in the second slot:

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2911999/graphic-card-compatability.html

and yes get anew PSU

and also get a new case so you have enough space to put in the graphics card to the top slot :)

is the harddrive cage removeable, if you remove it it usually gives you loads of space for the first slot :)

In regards to whether the card will work in the second PCI-E slot I am unable to confirm for definite but from experience on my ASUS boards they have always accepted a card in either of the first 2 slots with no issue at all, although on this one I am reluctant to confirm 100% as every board is different, as is every manufacturer. I will try and find out if I can for definite in this regards and then post some more info.

Check the motherboard manual it will tell you if it you should put it in the first slot.

Cause the OP i helped yesterday also had a ASUS board, and She said i was right, and she checked the Mobo manual and it said, "single cards go in slot 1"
