Intel 5th gen cpu vs 4690k?

So I was making a new build, and... I'm confused. Is there any 5th gen intel cpu that is comparable or the i5 4690k, or the i7 4790k? Could someone explain the 5th gen cpu's since I don't see them used much in gaming rigs
Unrelated PS. If I attempt to switch motherboards, will I need my Windows 8.1 product key when I reinstall it on an entirely knew motherboard?

The 5th gen are 'Broadwell'. They have Intel's advanced Iris Pro graphics built in. Although Iris is powerful, it's still not good enough for gaming by itself in most cases and it drives the price of the cpu up. Since you'll need a discreet GPU anyways there's really no reason to pay the premium for Broadwell with Iris Pro graphics. Haswell or Skylake is what you want for gaming. For a non-gaming system or a laptop using integrated graphics, Broadwell could be a good option.

the brodwell cpu was dead on arrival from intel.intel killed it off quietly when skylake came out. the issue was intel had issues going from larger cpu die to the 14mm cpus. the issue on yeild were so bad by the time 14mm prosses tapped out skylake cpu was ready. so thta why there so few brodwell desktop chips. your going to see a brodwell or skylake e chip but that be it for brodwell. if you have a retial copy of windows you may be able to reinstall it if it an oem copy you have to call ms and say your mb dies.
