Hey! well this is awkward, Marry christmas and what not, so, I got four new fans for Christmas for my haf x case. Installed front and back fan just fine, top fans wont seem to scrape the chassis of my case so those might need to be returned, but not the problem I am here to ask about.

The Background?: I've had this computer for alittle of 4 or 5 years now, The First PSU I got was DOA, and a friend had an extra, a blue and black rosewill ones, with the blue fan inside? Yeah so I've been using this thing for well since I built the computer. It has gone threw a full rework as in new motherboard graphics cards hard drives ram cpu's the works, but this is my first time replacing the default haf x fans. and after I installed the new fans,

The Problem: with everything going just fine temps are good, so I boot up a few games to see how loud the fans will get during a bit higher insensitive gaming, i get to fallout 4, probably in the game for an hour now, annnnd computer screens go black. computer remains on with the fans spinning. and my water coolers corsair light on same thing with my computer keyboard lights, so I wait a while to see if it was a driver failing to recover or something like that, nothing computer just stays like that for about 5 minutes or so. I attempt to turn the computer off via the power button and it wont turn off, so I go to the back of my computer and have to flip the switch to stop the power flow, I wait another 5 or so minutes and then try to turn it back on, fans spin up everything seems good, (no post beep as I don't have a speaker in the computer yet haven't ordered one for whatever reason will use my partners in case speaker to test if it will give a beep code when he wakes up.) And I wait, and I wait, nothing monitors stay black and my keyboard (RGB K70 older model) Flips between color settings from rainbow to normal red to blue and white. I've seen this happen before due to my motherboard having a keep usb powered option, turned this off. But now that it is doing it again i am having a bad feeling eather my vary old Rosewill PSU has died or my fairly new gigabyte motherboard is dead. I'll give an update when I see if it posts or not but just having a post here is nice maybe someone has had a similar problem and will know what it is.

Specs: (from the top of my head)
Ram, Corsair vengeance 15 gb
Cpu, AMD 8350 8 core.
Mobo: Gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3
PSU: Rosewill Stallion Series? 650W?
Gpu: XFX R9 270x
New case Fans Two Bitfenix spectre's in orange, 230 and a 140.

Not sure if the installation of the two new fans seems to be just to much strain for the old psu. or what is really going on. Any help would be fantastic, thanks for reading.

TLDR; Computer black screened, monitors don't get any display. after a force shutdown computers fans spin up but no output, wont power down.

P.s. all that I changed was the case fans.

Update: just tried a post code test, bad news no post code. not sure where to go from here. Still going on the idea that is the psu that died.

Still no ideas on whats going on?

Alright, later today i'll take out my partners psu and hook it up to mine see if it works. I'll give an update when I can.

(to be honest i've had a bad feeling that it has been dying for awhile. almost buying a new one several times after noticing that its getting a bit noisy and with the amount of video driver failures i've been having afraid it might not be giving enough juice to the gpu. and the new fans might have just pushed it over the limit and fried it.)

Super Stupid update that makes me look like an idiot.

While I was uninstalling my psu I checked all my cables. and woops looks like the 4 pin power cable for the cpu came loose while i was installing the fans and now i feel like an idiot, to be honest i almost forgot you need that cable and didn't even bother to check it at first. plugged it in and it works just fine, I still probably am in need of a new psu as this one is still vary old and probably is running on its last legs. Thanks mike for the help.
