Hello everyone,

I am interested in building a new pc and I thought I would post my query as to what would make a good build.

The current issue I have is that I actually have an Asus r9 290 gpu on hand from an older system and as such had to decide between either selling it and going with an A10 build. Or just rebuilding a computer from there.

I don't expect, I will be doing much if any over clocking nor do i have any plans for dual gpus.
Mostly will be using the computer for movies, and work which involves a lot of browsing and documentation work but no image or digital video editing.

So if I do decide to hold onto the gpu
Will likely go with:

Processor: fx 6300

The mobo is harder to put a finger on due to variation in price in malaysia and what's outside in the world. Plus the fact that my requirements are really mostly for a stable pc.

Possible choices available to me with current usd value is as follows:

Gigabyte:
78LMT -s2p for $41
78LMT -s2 for $55
78LMT -USB3 for $ 62
970A- DS3P for $ 96

Asus
M5A78L-M LX V2 for $ 45
M5A97 R2.0 for $ 97

Asrock
970 extreme 3 for $82
990fx extreme 3 for $103

I skipped on MSI due to the various reported QC issues.and i am still unclear as to whether or not the 970/990 chipset is necessary for me

Budget wise, my first choice would be the 78LMT USB3. Reviews on asrock shows it as stable but not really oc friendly which is fine with me.

So could you help me on what I need as a mobo?

Oh right will 550w psu run the system without hiccup. I will likely start with a 1tb hdd.. and then add on one ssd eventually for the novelty of it and then another 2 tb hdd down the line.

Solution
I'd go the M5a97 from Asus, or if you can swing it the newer 990fx extreme 3 from the Rock, better choices in the event ypou want to upgrade CPU and as far as compatibility with other newer components
